Home Pulse: Assign Free Stock

Introduction

Free Assign Stock allows Retail Supervisors and Shop Managers to assign For Sale stock to Shop Technicians without a customer. This allows the Technician to hold stock so that they can demonstrate products to sales leads and carry out same-day installations.

1.     Navigate to the free stock feature

The Free Stock feature can be accessed via the 3-dots menu at the top-right of the screen.

 

2.     Select Technician to manage stock

To view and manage a Technician’s stock, select the desired Technician using Staff Name or Staff Code and select the date for the stock assignments.

 

Once you have selected the desired Technician and date of stock assignment, click Next.

 

3.     Assign free stock to the technician

To assign free stock to the selected Technician, choose a product type and product version (where applicable). For control units, a serial number is always required. 

If a package is selected all products in the package will be added to the Technician’s stock. Once you have selected all of the products to be assigned, click Next.

 

4.     Review stock assignments/un-assignments before proceeding

The following page shows a summary of the stock assignments and un-assignments that will occur when the movement is saved.

 

You can print a summary of the stock movements before you submit the form by clicking Save. This is an optional step that can be used to provide a record of the stock assignments and/or un-assignments to the Technician and Retail Supervisor or Shop Manager.

 

Once the form has been submitted, a message should appear to confirm that the stock assignment or un-assignment has been successful. There are some cases where an error message will be shown instead, such as when the control unit serial number entered is already assigned to a customer. In this case, follow the advice on the error message.

 

5.     Un-assign free stock to the technician

To un-assign stock from a Technician, follow the same steps as for stock assignments.

  • Navigate to the free stock feature via the 3-dots menu

  • Select the desired Technician by Staff Name or Staff Code

  • Select the date of the stock assignment or un-assignment

  • Click Next

 

On the Manage Free Stock page, you will see that there is an X button to the right-hand side of each product that is free assigned to the technician. If you click this X button, the stock will be un-assigned from the Technician to the Shop.

Note that it is not possible to un-assign customer assign stock using the free stock feature. To un-assign customer stock please follow the normal process for reset application.

 

6.     Record an installation using free assigned stock

To record an installation using free assigned stock, navigate to the Record Installation form via the 3-dots menu. Search for the desired customer using the name or customer number.

 

Record the installation as normal, entering the control unit serial number.

Note that if the Technician selected does not have the correct free assigned products for the installation, an error message will be shown and you must first assign the correct stock.

 

7.     Assign Stock Technician in ERP

In ERP, go to Stock Move Tool > Receive/Deliver By Orders > Assign Stock Technician. From this page, you can see a history of all stock assignments and un-assignments.

You can also create new stock assignments here too, for both free stock and customer stock. Click Create and fill in the form that appears.
