Creating a service product.
Creating a Service Product on the ERP is similar to creating any other consumable product. This guide will show the configurations for a service product that are different compared to a normal product. All other configurations are the same as for normal products.​
Difference between a Service Product and a Normal Product

Examples of Service products​
Pay for Repair – charging customers for repairing and replacing broken products not covered by warranty (Combination of Upgrade + Swap)​​
Re-installation fee – when customers move home, they can pay for a technician to re-install their system at the new location​​
Optional ESF – customers who are completed or opt-out of ESF payments can always pay for ESF as a service​​
Emergency energy fee – X% fee when a client runs a negative balance (future development)​
How to create a new Service Products:
Go to Sales Module > Products/Products > Create
An information tab pops up where you fill in the name of the product and then create the category of the product.
Creating a Product Category
Click on the category dropdown and select create and edit
Name the product category according to the type of service product​
Select Income and Expense accounts*​
Save​
Income and Expense accounts example for Rwanda. Each NGU should configure according to preferences. May be different per NGU.
Product configuration summary
Name the product, e.g. Pay for Repair, TV, 12 months.​
Select the product category you have just created (in the previous step) for​
Select Information tab​
For Product type, select ‘Service’ (when this is selected, there will be no stock moves or depreciation)​
Flag ‘Repair Product’ to make service products sellable to customers​
Setting the product costs and contract length
Select Upgrades tab​
Configure product details on this page according to requirements and price list​
N.B: Complete like you would any product – no specific additional configurations needed for Service Products
Save New Product​
Click Save in the top left corner to complete the configuration of the Service Product
