Generic Products
Introduction
This documentation provides a clear overview of managing generic products in Pulse. It shows how to view product version details, create new generic products, and manage their versions. Pulse users can easily access and organize their list of generic products to efficiently handle product management tasks.
The following roles can view generic products:
Admin
Sales
Field Technician
Field Management
Back Office Management
Call Centre Basic
Call Center Advanced
But only users with Admin permissions can create generic products, add and delete a product version.
Viewing Generic Product Details
To view Generic Products, follow the steps below:
On Pulse 2.0, click on the 9 dots on the top right part, and you’ll see the Product Configuration.
Once you are on Product configuration, click on Generic Products.
The Generic Product list has the following columns:
generic product ID
generic product name
generic product type
the number of versions assigned to generic products.
By clicking on it, you can also view the details of a generic product to see which versions are associated with the generic product
The detailed view includes:
generic product ID
generic product name
each version associated with that generic product:
product ID
product name
Creating a New Generic Product
The Systems & Process or Logistics Office can create a generic product, and group different products together as substitutable versions so that shops and field staff can use any version to fulfill an order.
From the Generic Product list, there’s a button to create a generic product
The following fields are available on the form
Generic product name (Mandatory)
Generic product category: choose
Solar Home System (Mandatory)
Mini Grid
Cook
Insurance
Smartphones
Cash Loans
E-mobility
Product Type (Mandatory)
Appliance
Consumable
Metered
Package
Service
After completing all required fields, click Submit to add the product to the list of generic products.
Managing Generic Product Versions from the details' view
The Systems & Process or Logistics Officer can manage versions associated with a generic product by adding or removing it so that shops can select the right versions
