Glossary:

  1. AKA = Also known as

  2. Metric = The number that you see

  3. Dimension = The category by which you filter or slice (on axis or legend) the metric by

  4. Column = When the data is just being shown in a data table as an attribute and is therefore neither a metric or dimension

Other Notes:

  1. We haven’t included when a metric is visible through a tooltip for now

  2. There are many cross-references to things in other rows of the table (particularly when capitalized) so please search for the name of something in the rest of the document if not clear what is being described somewhere. You may find it has it’s own dedicated row.

  3. We have tried to organise the table so that any metric referenced in the formula of a metric should have it’s own row earlier on in the table (and not further down)

1

CU Repairs Completed

Metric

For Home 2 this is the number of repairs where the state is currently 'final_scan' and the next state is 'end_state'. For other types of CU it is simply when the overall repair is registered as their process involves only recording the repair upon completion.

2

Appliance Repairs Completed

Metric

When a technician repairs an appliance such as a TV or Radio they register it in IRT. A repair could have multiple parts replaced in it or none.

3

Home 2 Repairs Length of time to Completion

Metric

Length of time from the recorded start of the repair till it was completed. Grouped based on number of days

4

Days Between Fail/Repo and Repair

Metric

The failure date is when the unit changes from monitored to in_repair and this happens on the day the repossession is recorded. The difference between this and the repair completion averaged for all units gives this metric.

5

CU Repair Type

Dimension

Categories are based on whether PCB is replaced, Battery is replaced or some combination or other activity.

6

Repair Symptom

Dimension

What were the things the technician identified as being wrong with the CU

7

Repair Outcome

Dimension

The technician logs whether they were able to complete the repair, if it was simply a refurbishment or if it had to be terminated

8

Home 2 Repair Steps Completed

Metric

Within a repair flow there are individual steps a technician must make. Each is recorded. There could be any number of steps per overall repair

9

Repair Center Today's Status

Metric

For in progress this means the volume of steps that were in progress as at the last time the report was refreshed. For completed it is similar, those that were completed today up until the last refresh time.

10

Average Repairs Pending per Day

Metric

The average number of repairs pending per day throughout the month. Eg. the volume of pending repair steps in progress at the end of each day for June divided by 30.

11

Parts Replaced by Category and part type

Metric

Using the hierarchy present in smart solar what number of parts were replaced based on date of replacement.

12

Parts Replaced within Warranty

Metric

A replaced part is within warranty if the part is replaced within 18 months of shipped date. Shipped date is classified as moving from current_state_type = 3 and prev_state_type = 2

13

Cost of Parts Replaced by Type, in local currency

Metric

The cost of the replacement part according to ERP. The most recent cost each part is chosen for the purposes of the report. This is in local currency.

14

Products Deployed

Metric

Number of CUs with customers

15

Battery/PCB Fails %

Metric

The number of that part ever replaced in the cohort over the total number of CUs in that cohort.

16

Avg Months in Service

Metric

Time between when the product was shipped from China and when it arrived at the repair center. Just counts up till now if not gone into repair center.

17

Avg Months In Service After Repair

Metric

For CUs that are repaired, their new life starts once they return to being with a customer in monitored state. This is the time accumulated before they return again to the repair center (or till now if they haven't yet)

18

CU Failure Rate

Metric

The number of fails in a given month divided by the number of CUs in the portfolio at that start of month. The numerator is calculated using the date of failure of the unit (when it was repossessed) instead of the date repair.

19

CU Part Failure Rate

Metric

Follows the same structure as CU Failure Rate and has the same denominator but numerator is number of parts replaced and is split by the part type. Assuming that there is one of each part per CU.

20

Cohort Failure Rate

Metric

The number of CUs that fail in a specific duration after being assigned to a customer (eg;1, 2 months after)divided by the size of total number of CUs that were assigned to customers in a specific month. The numerator calculation is cumulative ie; the number of failures in a specific month are added to previous month failures. Failures are defined as occurrences where a PCB, battery or both are replaced in a unit.

21

Technician Performance Actions

Metric

The appliance actions (Lights, Radios etc) are simply the count of completed repairs. The CU workstation actions (CU Workstation 1 etc) are specific events on the Home 2 workflow that act as milestones for repairs. The count of these actions represent the productivity of the technician. Repair centres are split into 4 workstations:

1 is focused on diagnosing the problem with the unit

2 is focused on fixing PCB issues

3 is focused on fixing battery issues

4 is just any final checks and cleaning (has not been included in these metrics)

22

Out of Warranty Reason

Dimension

A control unit can be out of warranty for 3 possible reasons. Either the warranty has expired because of time elapsed, the customer has tampered with the unit or the energy limit was configured to exceed the allowed level. Tamper indication is taken from the repair technician records. The energy limit rule is only applied to some NGUs and only counts if the battery got replaced as part of the repair. It can be the case that several of these reasons apply to one repair.

23

Battery Production Batch

Dimension

These batch numbers are based on the date a battery was created. If the battery was created on a date that is not within the bounds of a documented batch, its batch is "Unknown".

24

PCB Production Batch

Dimension

These batch numbers are based on the date a PCB was created. If the PCB was created on a date that is not within the bounds of a documented batch, its batch is "Unknown".

25

Production Location

Dimension

The created_by field in the control unit table is used to identify if the product was 'Made in China' or 'Made through repair process'. If either r.software@bboxx.co.uk' or d.mclean@bboxx.co.uk are used it is 'Made in China'.

26

Part Added

Dimension

The name of the part added, this doesn't necessarily have to be the same part as that replaced. The old part is listed in the data behind the report.

27

Product

Dimension

BBOXX product name: Home, Home 2 etc...

28

Tampering

Metric

The % of tampered units out of the total repair based on IRT data.

29

Incoming stock from shops

Metric

The total number of incoming products (control units + appliances) from shops through Pulse delivery lists. This is for predicting the expected volumes in coming months for staff and space planning.

30

Redeployment ratio

Metric

The % of completed repairs sent for replacement or redeployed for sale
